Chief Executive Grunt
Unlike most developers at Level 12 my background is not in Computer Science. Prior to joining the Level 12 team, I spent 7 years working in various part-time roles at UPS while pursuing training for ministry.
In 2009, I was invited to join what was then known as Intelicom as the Office Administrator (a.k.a. Grunt). During my tenure as ‘The Grunt’ I observed, questioned, and learned a lot about both the business and the technology. I also began studying more about networking and computers, and I eventually moved into a role as a technician with my primary responsibilities including desktop and network support and hosting customer service.
During 2013 I took some Microsoft SQL database courses and began learning some basic web technologies like HTML and CSS. Since Python is the programming language of choice at Level 12, I also started to learn Python using many of the free resources available on the web, like codecademy.com and learnpythonthehardway.org. I am grateful to be a part of such a great team of developers as I continue to hone my skills.
I have a B.S. from Baptist Bible College and a M. Div. from Southern Seminary. Although my degrees are not common on a programmer’s résumé, the many courses I took in Greek and Hebrew helped me gain a knack for learning new languages.
I have been married to my beloved wife Lisa since 2001 and we have been blessed with three kids.
Probably not. I can’t think of any good reasons why I do deserve one. I’d rather have a nerd badge anyway.
I don’t really have a favorite, but in hopes of earning some points toward a geek badge I’ll say: “There are only 10 types of people in the world — those who understand binary and those who don’t” (I’m still not sure which type I am).
I don’t know. I hate hypothetical questions. Work anyway.
Nothing. I hated being a kid.
I like the opportunity to work together with friends. I also enjoy the sense of accomplishment that comes after solving someone’s computer problem.
Having to answer these questions!!!!!
“Dear Sir: Regarding your article ‘What’s Wrong with the World?’ I am. Yours truly,” (G.K. Chesterton)
Run, John, run, the law commands
But gives us neither feet nor hands,
Far better news the gospel brings:
It bids us fly and gives us wings.
– John Bunyan
I’m not good with goals and purpose statements.
"My foot stands on level ground; in the great assembly I will bless the LORD." - Psalm 26:12
